One of the most serious features of Angelman syndrome, a rare neurodevelopmental condition, is seizures. Over 80% of individuals with Angelman syndrome experience seizures, often with an onset before age 3. These seizures can have a serious impact on a child’s development and abilities.
In this video, Robert, a 5-year-old with Angelman syndrome, is brought in by his parents to see Dr. Hutchison, a pediatric neurologist who has experience working with patients with Angelman syndrome. His parents are extremely concerned about him as they say he will not stop seizing for more than a minute at a time.
